Description: Tragically, today many people are told that they are saved in their sins. Instead of passing from spiritual death into spiritual life in Christ, they continue to remain in spiritual death, sinning each day, and yet think that they are saved. This ought not to be so and people need to know the truth before it is eternally too late.
Brother Hicks Speaking: Hello brothers and sisters, today I want to talk to you about sinners being converted to sinners. What we see today is a trend of people making “decisions” for Christ, and “accepting” Jesus and all these things you never see in Jesus’ ministry. Not once do you see anyone making a “decision” for Christ; they gave up [all] to follow Jesus, they repented and believed the gospel to follow Jesus, they denied self and took up their cross and followed Him. Today you see people making “decisions” for Christ. Some people even say they’re “trying Him out.” My brothers and sisters, you can’t try out Jesus. Either you truly have a converted heart, where you are radically changed from the inside or you don’t have Jesus. What we see so often [today] is not people who were sinners being converted to saints, we see sinners being converted to sinners, just now they’re religious sinners. Now they say, “Well, I am not perfect, I’m just forgiven,” and they have all these excuses and catch phrases, and they pull these little verses here and there that they use to excuse their sin, but they don’t have biblical salvation. All they have is the words of a man that pronounced them saved in their sins, when a Holy God is still calling them to repentance and He’s demanding that they repent.
What we need today is real men of God to preach the gospel, to tell people they need to repent (Mark 1:15), and confess and forsake their sins (Proverbs 28:13), that they can’t continue in sin anymore, that they can’t just make a decision for Christ and continue on living the same old way, and think that is salvation. That true salvation, biblical salvation, brings holiness (2 Thessalonians 2:13; Hebrews 12:13), it brings a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17), it brings a new man, and it brings the divine nature, that we become partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). As the Scripture says, the Spirit of Almighty God, dwells in us (2 Corinthians 6:16). If you do not have that as a testimony (that you have the Spirit of God bearing witness with your Spirit that you’re a child of God), [then] you need to believe the Gospel, you need to repent. You cannot make a decision for Christ and get biblically saved, unless that “decision for Christ” includes repenting of all your sins, and believing the Gospel.
Many people just believe on Jesus for eternal life, they don’t care about obeying Him, they don’t fear God, they don’t love their enemies, they have no intention of loving their neighbour, much less their enemies, [this is all because] they are not converted. They are the same old sinners, [only] now they call themselves saved, because some man told them [they were]; they shook the preacher’s hand or they read a prayer, they repeated a prayer, or they went to some revival and now they think they’re saved. You must repent and believe the Gospel, there is no other Gospel. They want to tell you, “Well, that’s the Gospel, just believe a few things,” they want to tell you “that’s believing the Gospel,” [or] “just believe this,” [or] “believe a few things over here,” and you’re eternally secure. Nothing is changed in your heart, nothing is new, God doesn’t dwell in you, God doesn’t have a personal relationship with you, you don’t fellowship with God, but they want you to think you are saved.
My friends, don’t be deluded. Don’t let any man deceive you, if you don’t have a new life in Jesus Christ, you don’t have life in Jesus Christ at all. Eternal life is knowing Him (John 17:3); knowing the Father, knowing the Son, knowing the Spirit, and if you aren’t living a Holy life, you don’t know them. Please repent today and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
